Liam turns 3 so we partied all weekend long!

Since Liam’s birthday was on a Saturday we spent the whole weekend celebrating him and we all had a blast!

After work we had a quick dinner and went to the fire hall to cash in the free fire truck ride Joe’s dad won at a raffle. Erin, Joel, Kameryn and Luke came along with “fire fighter Frank” and “teacher Pam” or as Liam calls her “school Pam.”

It was a fun, long, ride and Liam did not stop smiling the whole time.

After the ride it was home for wind-down time and bed.

Happy Birthday Liam! We put balloons in his room while he was sleeping and he woke up in the morning saying “I have to pee. There’s something in here! What are those?” When I went in he discovered they were balloons and when I told him it was his birthday he said “Right now???” It was so cute.

We let him open his birthday presents in the morning and he loved them all.

Joe’s dad stopped over to tell Liam happy birthday before he took off for a hunt in Utah.

Then we were off to the Minnesota Zoo which is the activity Liam chose to do for his birthday.

The weather was perfect. We walked a total of 4 miles and saw all kinds of different animals. We all had a great time.

Then we took the kids on the Carousel. Liam chose the bear as the animal he wanted to ride.

We had lunch at the zoo (definitely packing a lunch next time) and then went to look at some of the indoor exhibits.

For a nice day weekend day it wasn’t all that busy so it was just the perfect way to spend Liam’s birthday.

When we got home it was nap time and I quick threw together a birthday cake for Liam.

After he woke up from nap we decided to do cake. He was so happy when we were singing to him.

We spent some time outside and inside for the rest of the day. Liam and Owen both took a short nap so they both just wanted to lounge.

My parent’s stop by for a quick visit to tell Liam happy birthday. He showed them all his new toys.

Liam chose macaroni and cheese and hot dogs for his birthday dinner. After dinner we had movie time and then bed time. We put the boys in the matching pajamas that Marley (our dog) got for their birthdays (early gift to Owen).

WE slept in a little bit and then had a relaxing morning. Joe and Liam ran a few errands and I tried to clean up the house a little bit.

Liam got an awesome gift from our friends in Oregon Tyler, Chelby, DJ, and Alena. Our little cowboy! So cute!

The morning was quiet. At nap time I got cupcakes ready and supplies packed up for the birthday party.

Then after nap my bestie Annie stopped by to wish Liam a happy birthday and give him a fun gift! He was practicing his independence and wouldn’t take a picture with her.

We played outside for a little bit and then we were off to the Paw Patrol birthday party! For the second year in a row we had Liam’s party at Sawmill Pizza and Brew shed. It is the perfect spot for kids to run free and eat pizza!

I got some Paw Patrol masks for the party. Liam was so excited to wear them. So funny!

We started the party with some pizza and then had cupcakes.

Liam again was thrilled when everyone sang him Happy Birthday.

We did presents shortly after that. Liam giggle at every card and every presents. He told everyone thank you and gave big hugs. He loved all of it.

Then it was play time! The kids all ran around outside and had a blast.

We got a group picture with all Liam’s cousins (who are also his best friends).

Liam wanted his friend Keaton to come too but he was a little shy so we took a pictures of the boys and their dads.

We also took some family pictures and Liam smiled in every picture with no questions asked. So sweet.

We got home and he wanted to wear his new pajamas and play with all his new toys. We let him play for a little bit before it was time for him to go to bed.

We watched the Packer game (me some, Joe all) and then went to bed.

We had the best weekend celebrating Liam! He has blessed our lives more than he will ever know!

Liam is 3 years old!

Seems like just yesterday we were announcing “It’s a boy!” to our family and now we have an independent 3 year old who has stolen our hearts, makes us proud, and makes us laugh daily.

Liam is 31.5 pounds and 36.5 inches tall.

Liam has always been a good eater. For the most part he still eats really well except when he is practicing his independence. Meal times can be quite challenging on those days.

Liam still takes a good 2+ hour nap most days around 12 and he sleeps through the night in his toddler bed. In the past year he has gone through periods of waking up and crying in the middle of the night but I am hoping we are past that.

Liam is fully potty trained other than naps and bedtime. He wakes up dry from nap maybe 25% of the time. We will get there!

Liam has 20 teeth! He had his first dentist visit this past year that went very well. He is in the no cavity club and does really well brushing his teeth.

Liam has began engaging in pretend play. It is so fun watching him use different voices and pretending certain things are happening or that an item is something else.

Liam is beginning to really practice his independence. He likes to do things his way and is very stubborn.

Liam has good days and bad days but overall he is really well behaved. We tell him to turn his listening ears on when he is struggling to listen and he turns a pretend dial on his ears (so funny!). We use time outs and “breaks” to help him adjust his behaviors/reactions when he is not listening/misbehaving.

Liam can count to 10, tell stories, recognize writing, knows his colors, somersault, jump on one foot, ride a bike with training wheels, and really a whole lot more. He likes to play hockey, baseball, and go swimming. He likes shooting his bow.

Liam likes to make up words that rhyme with the real word.

Liam is pretty shy around new people or even people he doesn’t see often. He warms up after a while but his initial reaction is to be shy.

Liam is still a very curious and observant little boy. He does not miss a thing and even when you think he isn’t listening….he is.

Liam is now interested in gender and names. He often asks “is that a boy? is that a girl? what’s his name? what’s her name?”

Liam loves being a big brother and making Owen laugh. There are times he will take Owen’s toys, wrestle him, or push him down and then there are other times where he will share with Owen, make him laugh, and give him kisses. It’s all about balance right?

Liam’s first visit to the dentist

I decided it was time to finally bring Liam to the dentist. I had always been told unless something was wrong there is not reason to bring them before the age of 2 however I learn that the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit the dentist by the age of 12 months, or when the first tooth appears, so we were a little behind since Liam will be 3 in September. But, better late than never!

I asked around for a few recommendations and landed on St Croix Kidds Pediatric Dentistry in Hudson. I was told really good things about it and was hopeful we would have a good experience.

Liam was excited to go. Joe had a dentist appt that day too so Liam thought it was pretty neat that him and Dad were both going to the dentist on the same day.

We have had many discussions about the dentist and that she is really nice and that she will look at his teeth and clean his teeth. He seemed to understand.

When we got inside the waiting area was perfect. There were all kinds of toys and movies playing. Liam had fun “fishing.”

Then it was our turn to go back. Liam suddenly wasn’t so sure but was taking it all in. We put him in the chair and the dental assistant laid it down. Liam was reluctant to lay down with the chair but still did it. However, he refused to open his mouth and let her look.

We decided to wait for our dentist, Dr. Darcy. While waiting the dental assistant gave Liam a new tooth brush and some toys to play with.

When the dentist came she had Liam sit on my lap. She then sat across from me and put a board on her lap for Liam to lay back on but still be in my lap. He laid down and let her look at all his teeth. He didn’t seem like he wanted her to but he didn’t resist or get upset. He was perfect.

She said his teeth looked great and no cavities. Yay! She did say he looked a little tongue-tied and that we would keep an eye on that. She asked if it seemed to interfere with anything at this time and I didn’t believe it did because his speech is great and he seems fine with eating. She stated sometimes it doesn’t interfere right away but later in life causes problems so we will just keep an eye on it.

After Liam was done he got to pick out a toy and put his name in a drawing for the “no cavity club.” They also gave him a color changing cup and a goodie bag.

Overall it was a really great experience and I am so glad we chose St. Croix Kidds!

Liam turns 2!

I can’t even believe my baby is 2 years old today! I have loved every minute of watching him grow and learn but I have a feeling year number 2 is going to be lots of fun.

Liam had his 2 year doctor appt on the 6th. He now weighs 26.4 lbs (45%) and is 34.25 inches tall (40%). He continues to grow and be a happy little guy. He hasn’t had any illnesses aside from a cold recently. Thankful for a healthy little man!

Liam did get his second haircut ever on the 6th as well. He was a wreck. He cried and cried and cried. Poor Annie did the best she could to give him a good haircut. Afterwards he acted like it went great though and told Joe his haircut was good. Toddlers! haha!

With the new baby coming we decided to move Liam to a new “big boy” room with a “big boy” bed. I was a little worried about this transition because I wasn’t sure he would stay in his bed but he did great! He loves his new room. His bedtime is around 7:30 pretty regularly now and he will sleep until about 6:30-7am normally. He still takes a 2-3 hour nap.

Liam is quite the talker. He says pretty much everything now. Some of his most recent common sayings are “help me” “I do that” “what’s that noise?” “what’s that?” He can sing happy birthday and likes to sing other songs as well. He is a good story teller too. He will say “big buck, my daddy shoot ’em, bow and arrow.” He will also say “Dr. Liz get the baby out” (we told him our midwife is Dr. Liz). Overall Liam is a talker!

Liam is a busy boy! He runs, climbs, and goes up and down stairs. He likes to spin and dance too. He likes to draw/scribble, build towers, throw a ball, play hockey, golf, and baseball, and has been “reading” books on his own.

Liam is typically a great eater. With his increasing independence he is becoming more selective of what he eats. Basically we give him his options and he chooses what he eats. He typically gets a main dish, veggie, and fruit at meal time and he will usually eat all of it but he has his days.

To be completely honest I haven’t checked his teeth in a long time (bad mom). So I have no clue how many he has at this point. I do know that we brush his teeth every night before bed and will be seeing the dentist hopefully in the next 6 months once Liam is a little less shy of strangers.

Liam is just bursting with personality now. Liam is a fun, loving, happy-go-lucky, silly, and stubborn little man. He is still extremely curious and asks questions all the time now. If I make a noise (because I am huge pregnant and this baby moves a lot) he will say “what mama?” Then I have to tell him what happened. He loves learning and catches onto things so quickly. He is definitely all boy but has a snuggly side to him every now and then too.

We decided to start potty training in June. Liam had expressed an interest since our trip to Oregon in April and we had been “casually” potty training since then with putting him on the toilet morning and night. He would go pee most times we set him on there. So in June we decided to make the transition to underwear and see how he does. He ended up learning really quickly how to use the potty. We had plenty of accidents and still do but overall Liam is doing really well! He doesn’t always tell us when he has to pee so we are still really diligent about putting him on the potty throughout the day. He has however started telling us when he needs to poop which is awesome! He does still wear a diaper at nap and bedtime.

Liam is 18 months old!

I can’t believe my little boy is already a year and a half old! Where has the time gone?? He has had many new experiences since my last post; vacation in Mexico, time outside in the snow, visit to the ice castles, running around outside when the snow melted and the weather was warm, he got his first haircut, and so much more!

We had his 18 month pictures taken and he did really great. He is growing and learning so much.

Liam had his 18 month well baby check at the end of February. He has stayed consistent with weight gain and head growth but he shot up these last few months. He is now in the 75th percentile for height (25th at his 15 month) and measures at 33 inches. For his weight he is now 23.8 lbs which is the 48th percentile. His head size is 47 cm which is 41st percentile.

Overall Liam has remained fairly healthy other than a cold/cough here and there. He also remained healthy over mine and Joe’s battle with the flu at Christmas time. Thank goodness for that!

Liam continues to be a good sleeper for us. There are some mornings that he gets up a little earlier than we would like and there are some naps that are shorter than we would like but overall he is a great sleeper. We have kept his routine of bedtime between 7-7:30 at night and he gets up between 5:30-6:30 usually. We still don’t let him get out of bed before 6am and he will lay and/or entertain himself until we get him. He truly is such a good little guy.

Liam is repeating everything! Liam’s vocabulary continues to expand on a daily basis. Lately we have been working on numbers and colors. He knows “two” and “blue.” So we have some work to do still-haha! Some of the phrases Liam will say are “all done” and “I don’t know.” He also says “love you” and “see ya later.”

Liam is all over the place. There is no stopping him now. He is running, climbing, and standing on things he shouldn’t be. He is also quite the dancer.

Well Liam has been a good eater from the start and continues to be a good eater. He has his days where he can be picky but for the most part he can eat. He loves eating anything Joe or I am eating. The one thing that stands out that he doesn’t like is leafy greens-however he will eat spinach if it is cooked with something.

Liam now has 12 teeth! He has his four top and bottom and then 4 molars as well. He enjoys brushing his teeth which make the task pretty easy for us to accomplish -thank goodness.

Liam has become very silly. He knows when he is being funny. He also knows when he is being naughty. Liam has also become really shy lately. He is very curious and has been since day 1. He takes in everything around him and checks everything out. This kid seriously misses nothing! It is adorable watching my learn and grow.

Liam is 15 months old

So since Liam turned 1 year old I felt monthly updates were not necessary however he has grown and learned so much since then! He has a big personality, gentle heart, and is all boy that is for sure! There is a lot to say about his development so this is a long post! Below is Liam at exactly 12 months and this morning at exactly 15 months.

Liam had his 15 month check up today and is doing great! He weighs 22.2 lbs (40%) and is 30.5 inches (25%) tall. His head is 46.5 cm (41%). He is continuing to grow and is staying for the most part really healthy.

In this past 3 months we did have our first battle with an ear infection. He got it right before Thanksgiving and was put on his first antibiotics (insert sad emoji here). He bounced right back though.

Liam has been sleeping through the night from around 7-7:30 bedtime and will sleep until anywhere between 5:30-7am. When he wakes up he lays quietly and waits for someone to come get him (we don’t let him get out of bed until 6am at the earliest).

Liam can say many words now. He also has his moments where he will repeat anything you say but he decides when. He says mama, dada, grandma (nana), grandpa (bumpa), Marley, milk, blankie, nigh-nigh, bye, hi, hello, Annie (na-nie —he thinks everyone is Annie lol), spoon, big buck, banana, Joel or Joe, uh-oh, no, thank you, eye, nose, cheers, and I’m sure so much more that I am missing! He says some other things kind of unclearly but we as his parents understand him most of the time. Some of those words include book, diaper, bubbles, snack, bird, and more. I truly am running a blank on all the things he says!

Liam has also mastered many animal sounds, especially farm animals. Joe taught him what an elk says as well and he is good at that!

Liam is running all over the place. He is unstoppable and so fast. He can climb, bend over, walk backwards, go up the stairs and down (supervised). He gets on his tippy toes to reach things he shouldn’t and loves crawling under the dining room table.

Liam can wave bye and hi, blow kisses, clap, stomp, kick, “jump,” dance, spin, give high five, give knuckles (pound), point, throw, and I’m sure there is more. His new trick is the spinning round and round. It’s so cute.

When Liam turned 1 he switched to whole milk and the transition went smoothly. We mixed half breast milk half whole milk for a few days and then went to straight whole milk. He had no reaction to it at all. We also ditched the bottle when Liam turned 1. Liam has been drinking from a sippy cup since then. The transition to that was really easy as well. Once we switch to the sippy cup we also decided no more milk right before bed (just at dinner time and that was it for the evening). Again to my surprise this didn’t phase Liam at all (as I thought he might wake up earlier because he was hungry) and he actually slept better than he has been.

Liam is a great eater most of the time. He love bananas and would have one every meal if it were up to him. We have learned if we give him his vegetables first he will eat them. He pretty much loves any food he is given and we do our best to make sure he gets vegetables, fruit, and protein in each meal. He now insists on having a fork or spoon with his meal and does not want help using it. He is pretty good with it though!

Liam now has 6 teeth (3 on top and 3 on bottom). He had 4 teeth for the longest time and in the last month gained 2 more! He has been drooling like crazy so I am guessing there are more to come.

  • being outside (when it isn’t too cold)
  • spending time with his dad
  • spending time with either of his grandpas (they are his favorite!)
  • being around other kids

  • running all over the place
  • playing with his hockey stick

  • bath time

  • getting his face wiped
  • mom picking his nose or ears
  • waiting for his food

I’m sure there is so much more that I could share about everything Liam has learned and is doing from the past 3 months but this is what comes to mind right now. It is amazing how fast this little man is growing and learning.

Greek Yogurt Whole Wheat Muffins

I wanted to make some low sugar muffins for Liam. Just something quick and easy for in the mornings or on the go. I found this recipe and Liam approves!

Greek Yogurt Whole Wheat Muffins

Makes about 24 muffins

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/4 cup non-fat plain Greek yogurt (the recipe I found calls for full-fat but I only had non-fat and they still turned out great)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a muffin tin with muffin liners
  2. Whisk the flour, baking soda, slat, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, maple syrup, egg, olive oil, and vanilla extract.
  3. Slowly pourt the wet ingredients in to the dry ingredients and use a spoon to gently fold the ingredients together. Do no over-mix. The batter will be very thick (almost like fluffier cookie dough).
  4. Spoon the batter into the muffin cups and make for approximately 15 mintues, until the tops of the muffins are set. Watch the muffins closely, so as not to overbake.
  5. Allow to cool and enjoy. Can be enjoyed topped with creamy peanut butter, coconut butter, or a smear of butter.

STORAGE SUGGESTIONS: Store any leftover muffins in an air-tight container for four to five days. These muffins freeze well but they also seem to go bad rather quickly when stored in the pantry. I recommend freezing some of the muffins right away if you don’t think you’ll go through all of them within four days and storing all of the remaining muffins in the refrigerator.

Note: This recipe was adapted from Peanut Butter Fingers

Trick or Treat 2016

Happy Halloween! I hope everyone enjoyed this fun and scary holiday. This was Liam’s 2nd Halloween and I couldn’t think of a cuter costume than him being a monster….and he was adorable!

We started with a trip to my work in the morning. I had the day off but my work was having a little Halloween party so I asked if Liam could visit with me. He was such a good boy during the party and warmed up to everyone pretty quickly.

Liam is working at mommy’s work haha!

Then it was home for lunch and nap time. Liam took a nice long nap. Once he woke up it was go go go!

First we went to his daycare for a quick stop to say hi and show off his monster costume. Then it was off to my grandparents. They were so very happy to see him.

Joe had to go to hockey practice and was going to meet up with us after. Liam and I went to my parents and while there gave Liam some dinner before moving on to the next adventure.

We went to Joe’s sister’s because she has a big Halloween get together with friends and family and pizza and fun. Joe’s mom met us there. The other kids already went out to trick or treat so we hung out for a little while until Joe came.

We walked to Joe’s parent’s to see Joe’s dad and then to Joe’s aunt and uncle’s house.

We then went back to Joe’s sister’s. All the kids were back and it was crazy!

We made one more stop before we called it a night. We headed to the Greer’s to say hi.

We were all very tired by the end of the evening. On the right home Liam kept saying “nigh-nigh.” He was ready for bed.

It was another fun Halloween! So happy to have my little monster to show off! 🙂

First year favorites

I decided to do a post of things that we as parents and Liam as the baby thought were the best in his first year of life! The list is quite lengthy but does not include every single item that we used and loved. These are just the ones that came to mind easily when making this list. I hope you find this helpful!

Newborn to 3 month

  • Rock n Play sleeper -Liam slept in this at night by our bed and also would nap in here.
  • SwaddleMe adjustable blankets and HALO sleep sacks -Liam would sleep in either a swaddle wrap or sleep sack every night.
  • Pampers diapers -We love pampers brand diapers. Liam used pampers right away with no issues with rashes and number of blowouts were very low.
  • Layette -Liam lived in layettes! The convertible cuffs on the sleeves were perfect for protecting his face from fingernail scratching and the gown bottom made for quick and easy diaper changes.
  • Pajamas with zippers -Liam also lived in these at home. The zipper makes for easy diaper changes!
  • Aden and Anais swaddle blankets -We liked these better than any receiving blankets. They were large enough to wrap Liam up tight and also very soft.
  • Chicco KeyFit 30 infant car seat -We love this car seat. We had another brand that we tried and did not like it at all. This one has very easily adjustable straps and is easy to handle. Only down side is that the car seat itself is a little heavier than others but I would still highly recommend it!
  • Wubbanub -Liam liked this from about 1 month to maybe 3 months of age. Then he moved on. I do highly recommend it because the animal attached helps keep the pacifier in the babies mouth if it is loose instead of falling to the side and it is easier for the baby to find.

3-6 months

  • We continued to use Pampers diapers with minimal blowouts and no rashes. Still highly recommended.
  • We also continued to use Aden and Anais swaddle blankets -Once liam’s hands were free he began sucking on these blankets instead of a pacifier.
  • We continued to use the SwaddleMe adjustable blankets and HALO sleep sacks above. Liam slept so well with them that we kept using them until he started to roll over which is when they recommend discontinued use.
  • Zipadee-zip transitional sleep sack -we used this once Liam started rolling and couldn’t use the sleep sacks anymore. We weren’t sure he would be ready for complete freedom after always being swaddled. We didn’t use it for long and I like to believe that it helped but I can’t say for sure.

  • Motorola digital video baby monitor – I’m not sure I could have moved Liam to his crib in his own room without this. Not only because I wanted to make sure he was sleeping okay but also because he is a noisy sleeper and this helped me to confirm whether he was still sleeping or awake when he would make noises in the middle of the night.
  • Boppy Cradle in Comfort Bouncer -We got this as a hand-me-down. Liam loved this chair. He would sit in it and watch us as we cooked dinner, ate dinner, or needed to get things done. As I was looking for a link for this product it looks like it was discontinued by the manufacturer. Here  is a similar type of chair that I would highly recommend. Also, it always seemed like as soon as Liam would get in the chair he would poop. We figured it must be at the perfect angle to get things moving!
  • Laugh and learn love to play puppy -Liam would sit and watch the lights and listen to the songs. This could cheer him up if he was fussy.
  • Tommee Tippee bottle warmer -We loved this bottle warmer for quick easy bottle heating.
  • Tommee Tippee bottles -Liam adjusted to these bottles with ease and we used them all through his bottle days. We used the closer to nature baby bottle.

6-9 months

  • We continued to use Pampers diapers with minimal blowouts and no rashes. Still highly recommended.
  • We also continued to use Aden and Anais swaddle blankets -Liam’s comfort object. I had my aunt cut one into 4 sections and hem them so that we had 4 smaller blankets for Liam to suck on.
  • Safety first tubside bath seat -We love this. We don’t have to worry about Liam tipping over or the seat floating away. However, there are some terrible reviews on the chair. We have had no problems with it.
  • Sophie the giraffe -great teething toy.

  • Graduates rest easy spoons -I found I like these spoons better than the ones with the rounded end. These make for easy scrapping off of excess food from baby’s face.
  • Laugh and learn love to play puppy -Liam continued to enjoy the songs this puppy would sing.
  • Munchkin miracle 360 cup -We have both the trainer with the handles and the one without and Liam likes both. We thought it would be hard for Liam to figure it out but I showed him twice how to use it and he figured it out. I love these because they are supposed to be better for their teeth.

9-12 months

  • We continued to use Pampers diapers with minimal blowouts and no rashes. Still highly recommended.
  • We also continued to use Aden and Anais swaddle blankets
  • Step 2 Finding Dory Water Table -I couldn’t find the exact one Liam has but this one is very similar. This has been our saving grace some evenings. Liam loves to be outside and so this is the perfect summer activity for little ones. Not only that but it seems like kids of all ages love the water table. My nephew who is 2 and my niece who is 5 love it too! This will definitely be making it’s appearance again for many summers to follow!
  • Laugh and Learn Smart Stages Crawl Around Car -Our friends we visited in Seattle had this toy for their little boy and Liam seemed to really enjoy it while we were there. Since then my mom was on a mission to find one for sale. She ended up finding one on a garage sale site. She cleaned it up and brought it over and Liam loves it. He plays in it every day and loves all the noises it makes.

  • Push walker– Liam loves walking with a walker as he is learning to navigate in the standing up position.
  • Board books -Liam loves to turn the pages and so board books are much better than regular paper pages because then he can grab them with out wrecking the page. I would recommend board books with a short number of words on each page.

I’m sure there are many things I am missing but these are really the main items that come to mind when I think about the past year. Of course some of these items are unique to Liam but I hope as you read this you find it helpful!

Apples, anniversary, and a 5k

This weekend was a super fun and exciting weekend. I was busy busy busy but that was good.

I had the day off so my bestie Annie and I had a fall fun day! We decided to make it just a go with the flow laid back day. We started with coffee and a visit to this small waterfall in Osceola. It is so pretty and peaceful. We chatted and soaked up the view before heading back up the million stairs we went down.

Then it was off to the apple orchard. We checked out all the decor for sale and walked around a little outside. We checked out the pumpkins but I wasn’t liking any of them much. I bought some apples and pears and Annie got a few soup mixes.

We had time to go out to lunch so we did that. We went to Champs rooftop to eat because it was so nice outside. We ended up just missing the movie time at 1pm so we went to my house to relax for a little bit before the movie at 3.

We went to see Masterminds. It was okay but not great. Parts of the movie were really funny but overall it wasn’t very good which was surprising since the actors and actresses in the movie are normally really funny. I would say wait for this one to come out on DVD or Netflix if you were wanting to see it.

We spent the morning together drinking coffee and playing with Liam. It was a pretty uneventful morning for us but it was nice.

While Liam napped I started getting ready for date night. Joe and I planned a date night for our 2 year anniversary that was on Tuesday.

I had to wake Liam up from his nap because my mom was picking him up and they were going to a wedding. He looked so cute all dressed up and I even combed his little bit of hair to the side.

Once my mom picked Liam up I finished getting ready. We had reservations for 5:15pm and it was going to take us a little while to get there so by the time I finished getting ready it was time to go.

We went out to eat at Pittsburgh Blue. They have really good steaks and we were so excited to just have such a yummy dinner. I ended up ordering a glass of wine with dinner which was a huge mistake… Ever since having Liam I have discovered certain beverages make my throat swell up…or at least feel swollen. It has never happened with wine before which is why I didn’t think it would be a problem. (Does this happen to anyone else??)

The food looked super yummy but it was so hard for me to eat with my throat all messed up. It was super hard to swallow making eating just uncomfortable. It kind of ruined the dinner for me and Joe. We packed up the rest of my meal to-go and our complimentary dessert and walked over to Whole Foods to get something similar to tums thinking maybe that would help.

We ended up getting these papaya enzyme chews which seemed to help but ultimately I think time passing helped the most. I really wanted dessert and the dessert they gave us was red velvet cake —not a fan! So we drove to Hudson.

While we were at dinner my mom sent us a picture of Liam putting on the charm at the wedding reception. Such a cutie!

Once we got to Hudson my throat felt much better and I was hungry. Joe was hungry too. So we went to Pier 500 for our second meal (haha). We order gouda nachos and brie cheese curds. The nachos were amazing. I was not a fan of the cheese curds.

Then it was time for my dessert. I got the berries crisp which was so amazing and delicious. I seriously couldn’t stop eating it. I want more right now!

We were going to go to a movie in the theaters but we just weren’t interested in seeing any of the movies out right now so we headed home to rent a movie on demand and relax in comfy clothes. We rented Central Intelligence which was pretty funny. Then head off to bed!

Sleeping in was amazing! I slept until 7:30am which hasn’t happened in so long. Joe slept until after 8am. I woke up, had some coffee, and watched Gilmore Girls on Netflix until Joe woke up.

We seriously did not know what to do with ourselves without Liam. It was so quiet in the house and we both were kind of bored without him there. We missed him too. We would have went and got him right away in the morning but we had a run in the afternoon during Liam’s nap so we were going to get him after that.

We made a nice brunch with eggs and my leftover steak. It was tasty and good fuel for our run.

The race started at 1pm. We headed there at 12:30pm to hang out with Annie and her family before the race. She got a cute new husky puppy Saturday!

The weather was amazing. It was 70 and sunny. It felt really great until we started running…then it was hot! However, I ran my fastest 5k to date! Joe ran with me almost the entire time! After about 2.5 miles he needed a short break. He has a bad ankle and knee right now and they were both really bugging him. It was a really short break though because he was right behind me shortly after I left him.

I kicked it down at the end and ended up taking 3rd place for women in the event and got a free hair cut certificate for it. I finished in just under 28 minutes! Post run we were both sweaty and tired!

After we ran we picked up Liam quick and then headed to Champs for the after party and giveaways. We walked in just in time to have my name called for a Champs gift card. Then shortly after that Joe’s name was called for a Champs gift basket.

We headed home then. I had tortellini soup/pasta cooking in the crock pot for dinner. Joe went out hunting while Liam and I played the rest of the evening. Dinner was super simple since it was in the crock pot.

Liam was tired so he went to bed right at 7. Joe got home from hunting and we spent the evening relaxing on the couch.

We had such a great weekend! I hope everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful weather and I hope you all have a great week!
