We had a busy but wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas day
We started off our Christmas eve with some snuggles in bed followed by a delicious breakfast made by Joe.
The morning was filled with getting ready for our first Christmas celebration at my aunt and uncle’s house. Owen was looking quite dapper in his bowtie and hate. I had to get a picture of him by the tree.
We put Liam down for nap as soon as we got there because it was his nap time. It took him a little while to fall asleep but he did eventually.
Lunch was delicious and the company even better!
The boys both stuggled waking up from nap…those faces!
It is always fun getting all the cousins together. We have a tribe of kids now so it is extra fun and special. My grandparents sure are proud of their great grandkids.
Liam had fun opening some gifts.
It was a great celebration with family!
After gift opening we headed off to church. We all go as a family. The boys were so well behaved while there. They definitely made me proud.
After church we quick ran home to change our clothes and then head to Joe’s dad’s side Christmas. The theme was dazzle but since I didn’t have anything dazzling to wear I decided to wear a Christmas dress instead. Without realizing it right away I matched Owen!
Owen met some family members for the first time and he got lots of snuggles.
Things tend to get a little rowdy at this Christmas 1. Because there are a TON of people and 2. Drinks! It was super fun seeing everyone and catching up!
Then it was home to get the boys to bed before Santa came! They got their Christmas jammies on, we put the cookies out for Santa (and water because we were short on milk —insert shrugging emoji as well as palm to face emoji).
As soon as both boys were asleep, Joe and I got to work on putting presents out, filling stockings, and “eating” the cookies.
Then it was bedtime for us!
Okay….whose kids “sleep in” Christmas morning?!?! Apparently mine do. Joe and I waited not so patiently for Liam to wake up. Santa got him so new slippers and a book that was placed next to his bed while he was asleep.
Once Liam woke up we rushed in.
I said “guess who came last night?”
Liam “what mama?”
I said “Santa!”
Liam, “I’m so excited!”
Santa left a book and slippers next to Liam’s bed so he opened that and we read it. I said “let’s go see what Santa brought!” And Liam being my child and a child who thrives in routine said after he goes to the bathroom and gets underwear on. Seriously this kid cracks me up!
Owen was then waking up too so while I nursed Owen on the couch we all opened our stockings. Liam was beyond thrilled to find gifts inside.
Santa even brought Marley a gift!
We took pictures by the tree before opening the presents.
Then we opened. Liam was so patient and took turns. He loved all of his presents. Especially the blankies Santa brought him. He had to “try them out.”
Owen seemed to like some of his gifts too. Most stayed in the packaging though since they are for 6+ months. He has plenty of toys now for sure (as if he didn’t before lol)!
Liam was super excited to get his first pair of hockey skates.
After presents I made Santa pancakes and sausage links for breakfast. Liam’s pancake turned out super cute! I can’t wait to carry on the tradition.
Liam played with Owen a little and then after breakfast and a little rest time we headed to Joe’s parents for Christmas and more breakfast.
Liam again was a super patient boy and took turns opening presents. He was super excited to get a new hockey helmet.
Joe’s sister Erin, his brother’s girlfriend Kat, and I had matching pajamas so we HAD to take some fun pictures by the tree.
Also Erin’s family got a puppy for Christmas. So of course we had to get a picture of Owen and the puppy. Seriously my heart is melting!!! So cute!
We then went home again to get dressed and head to the next Christmas. We had Christmas at my parent’s.
We put Liam down for nap when we got there. We spent a lot of time just lounging and enjoying the company, including a classic massage train.
Liam was excited to get tickets for Paw Patrol (although he won’t really know what that means until he is there) and a fun tool kit with a chainsaw. Liam and Judah were “cutting” grandma’s tree.
My parent’s also got us a sled so hopefully one of these weekends that isn’t so darn cold we can get outside and use it. I know Liam will love it.
After two super long days it was great to get home and relax a little before putting the kiddos to bed.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday!
