Thanks Mom

In honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday I felt compelled to write about my own mother.

As a child I knew my mother loved me very much and that she would do anything for me. I just had no idea how unconditional her love was until I became a mother myself.

My mom is many things. She is a mother, daughter, wife, aunt, grandmother, sister, friend, employee, cook, malt maker, cookie baker, laundry washer, house cleaner, grandchildren spoiler, church member, everyday cheerleader, chauffeur, and the list goes on and on.

My mother is kind, loving, and patient. She ends every conversation with “I love you.” My mother is everything. EVERYTHING.

Becoming a mother changed everything for me. Thinking about how much I love Liam and knowing that is how much my mom loves me leaves me without words. And it’s undeniable that she loves Liam the same amount.

It’s incredible how becoming a mother changed my perspective of my own mother. I can now see more clearly everything she did for me, all the things she gave up for me, and how she made me her top priority. Liam is 8 months old and I feel every emotion he goes through. When he is happy I feel joy and when he is sad I am sad. I know my mother has gone through 27 years of feeling my emotions with me. What a supporter she has been in my life and what a role model she has become for me.

She is the kind of mother I strive to be.  I am so honored to have such an amazing mother.

Happy Mother’s day to all the moms out there but especially to mine! I love you mom!
